Cinderella

Our version of Cinderella is set in 1923 New Orleans.

Fashion in the United States 1920’s: Twenties fashion is often remembered for its glitz and glamor, though underlying this was a move toward simplicity in dress. For women, this meant shorter skirts and simple shapes, while men enjoyed casual suits. Men and women’s clothes would usually represent what class they were in during this time period. Larger more plushy dresses usually represented wealth. Different materials on suits made them expensive. Polyester was the most common and Guanashina was the rarest. In general, women's hairstyles in the 1920s aspired to be exotic and sleek, with hair worn close to the head. If one had long hair, it was pulled back in a small, low chignon. Bobs were cut in tapered layers so that the hair would lie as flat as possible.

Noteworthy Landmarks in New Orleans

Jackson Square

The square originally overlooked the Mississippi River across Decatur Street, but the view was blocked in the 19th century by the construction of higher levees. The riverfront was long devoted to shipping docks. The 20th-century administration of Mayor Moon Landrieu installed a scenic boardwalk on top of the levee to reconnect the city to the river; it is known as the "Moon Walk" in his honor, and has since been expanded and paved. The space between Decatur Street and the "Moon Walk" is designated as "Washington Artillery Park".
